Sample timeline
The sample's events, such as sampling, receipt, analysis, review and signature, appear in order on its timeline.
History of each result
When a result is changed, the history keeps the previous value, the new value, the author and the date.
Traceability by analytical batch
Beyond the sample, you can look up the batch: how many samples, which parameters and the status of each one.
Reagents, consumables and equipment
The reagent lots, consumables and equipment used are linked to the work order and the result. This helps locate the affected samples when one of them has a problem.
Audit trail
The trail records who did what and when in changes to the main records and results, as well as system access.
Three concepts that are not the same thing
Sample traceability, record integrity and metrological traceability answer different questions.
Sample traceability
Shows where the sample has been, from request to report, and who acted at each stage. It is the focus of this page.
Record integrity
The audit trail only adds records, without editing earlier ones, with a minimum retention of 5 years. Protection also depends on access control to the database.
Metrological traceability
Links measurements to standards through calibration certificates and reference materials. It is handled in the equipment module of quality management, and the laboratory documents the chain.
